2022/2023 program

For the 22/23 school year, our program runs from 9am-3pm Wednesdays and Thursdays (specific dates and closures listed in the calendar below), September-May.

We operate on private land 10 minutes south of Durango, with access to shelter, pasture and forest, though there may occasionally be field trips to other wild places in the area. On all but the coldest days, the program will take place fully outdoors. We do have regular access to a barn and fire pit, which we make use of often in the colder months, as well as an indoor space to use when needed. We also make necessary accommodations for exceptionally challenging weather, to keep participants comfortable and safe.

We have a lead and assistant facilitator present each program day, and can accommodate a group of up to 14 students, though our program is not currently full. For the 2022/23 school year, we are enrolling children from ages 7-12.

Parents are responsible for providing weather appropriate clothing, water, food, snacks and sunscreen (if desired). Children will need a comfortable backpack in which to carry their things, and weather-appropriate shoes and layers in order to participate.

This is a year-long program. The cost for the program is:

$1800 for 1 day/week
$3400 for 2 days/week

We are offering two year-long scholarships for the 2022-2023 school year, which will allow two students to attend at 75% off the normal tuition cost. These have been awarded for this school year, but we hope to be able to offer more tuition assistance in the upcoming school years to make our program as accessible as possible.

You may choose to attend either Wednesday, Thursday, or both. We do not allow drop-in style attendance.

Tuition can be paid as one lump sum or broken up into a payment plan. All payments can be made directly to our fiscal sponsor at the link here: https://bit.ly/OnwardDonationPage

Under "special events" there is a category for "Durango Wild Soul tuition"

2023/2024 Program

We are excited to announce our plans for next school year! Our program will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays at our Durango location for ages 5-12! We will also be offering Tuesdays in Mancos for ages 6-9.

Our program runs from 9am-3pm, September through May. Though children will generally be divided up into two classes based on age, we are excited to be able to leverage the benefits of both small and large group activities, provide age-and stage-appropriate challenges, and tap into the gifts of a multi-age environment. All children will learn strong skills in self-care, while also helping tend to the needs of the group. We will enroll up to 12 children ages 5-7 and 14 8-12-year-olds for each day, with a total of four facilitators to guide the day, lead groups and offer support.

Our program takes place fully outdoors except in particularly challenging weather. We are committed to the comfort and safety of all participants and have access to shelter and heated indoor space when needed. Fire is a regular part of our days in winter (as well as education about fire building/tending and safety), and water play is often a part of warmer days. We operate on private land 10 minutes south of Durango, with access to shelter, pasture and forest, though there may occasionally be field trips to other wild places in the area. Our Mancos location is still TBD, but will be within 10 minutes of downtown. Please see our about page for more info about our philosophy, topics we cover and our general approach to learning.

Parents are responsible for providing weather appropriate clothing, water, food, snacks and sun protection. Children will need a comfortable backpack in which to carry their things, and weather-appropriate shoes and layers in order to participate.

You may choose to attend Mondays and/or Wednesdays in Durango, Tuesdays in Mancos, or any combination of these days. This is a year-long program, running from September to May. We do not allow drop-in or short-term attendance. For the stability of our program, as well as support for our philosophy, we ask for a year-long commitment. Extenuating circumstances to this agreement can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Rates for the year are as follows. Monthly payments are due the 1st of the month Sep-May.

1 day/week -   $1800 total         -        $200/month
2 days/week - $3400 total        -        $380/month
3 days/week - $5000 total        -        $560/month

Siblings receive a 10% discount on total tuition cost.

A $200 deposit will be required on registration to reserve your spot, and will be applied to your tuition for the year. Tuition payments can be made in one lump sum or broken up into monthly payments.

We will be offering a limited amount of tuition assistance to qualifying families. If you'd like to apply, please let us know!

**Please note: registration does reserve you a spot, but does not guarantee acceptance into the program. While we will do all we can to make our programs accessible to all, we reserve the right to ensure we are a good fit for each other and that it is within our ability to meet your child's needs before their spot is guaranteed. We place great importance on the physical and emotional health and safety of all our participants, and make decisions accordingly. If for some reason we decide we are not a good match for you and your child, your deposit will be fully refunded. For school-year applicants, we will schedule an interview prior to the beginning of the school year to check in and discuss any concerns. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!**
