Wild Soul Summer Camps
We will be offering 5 weeks of fun, nature-connected summer camps from June through early August. General description, details and registration process are included below.
Nature adventure Day camp
At Wild Soul's Nature Adventure Day Camp, kids will be immersed in the natural world, growing their awareness of the plants, animals, and environment and experience what it is like to be a participant in nature, not simply a visitor. We will spend most of our days in like-age groups, moving on the land, playing, learning, and exploring. We will track animals, following their signs to the special places that most people never see. We will learn some reliable and nutritious edible & medicinal plants, as well as learn to identify the few plants that are very important to avoid. We will learn the basics of wilderness survival, expanding our awareness of hazards, as well as discussing how to stay safe if you have to spend a night or two out on the land. And, we will get to experience how humans live in community in nature - by trying it out together!
Learning at Wild Soul happens through games, play, stories, and by following the natural interests and passions of the kids, which we know are the original and most successful teachers of humans. We run, dodge, laugh, sneak and hide, we expand our awareness and look real close and wonder, we slow down and listen, we practice watching out and caring for each other and we come into ourselves and find that we belong. For more about our philosophy, please visit the About page.
For Nature Adventure Camp, kids should be prepared to be outside from 9am-3pm (6 hours, in total), in whatever weather we get! They will need to bring a morning snack and full lunch, 1.5L of water, closed-toe shoes (we'll take them off when we can!), sun protection (hat, sunscreen), a small nature journal and pen/pencil, and clothes that are appropriate for moving through tall grass, shrubs, etc. These should all be packed in a backpack that the child can carry. An extra change of clothes may also be useful - we will get muddy, we will get wet in streams and creeks, and we will be putting our bodies in contact with the earth!
Please do not bring: toys, cards, knives/weapons, fire-starters, sugary food/candy. All these things
have their place, but they will be distracting at camp!
*Note, this is a varied nature camp, not an exclusively survival-focused camp. It is more about connection with nature than wilderness survival, and we will not be working with knives or interacting much with fire. If you are interested in a survival-focused camp, please feel free to let us know so we can add this to our offerings in the future.

**Please note: registration does reserve you a spot, but does not guarantee acceptance into the program. While we will do all we can to make our programs accessible to all, we reserve the right to ensure we are a good fit for each other and that it is within our ability to meet your child's needs before their spot is guaranteed. We place great importance on the physical and emotional health and safety of all our participants, and make decisions accordingly. If for some reason we decide we are not a good match for you and your child, your deposit will be fully refunded. Thank you!**
