Wild Games Day!
Come join us for a day of nature-based games, connection and so much FUN!
Nature games are one of the most popular elements of our regular programs and summer camps! While many of them are both challenging and wildly exciting, they also teach about nature and wildlife (what would it be like to be a bird defending its nest or a rabbit trying to outrun its prey?!?), strengthen coordination and observation skills (maybe by being blindfolded or searching for hidden bits of color in the trees...), and foster connection and teamwork (what animal will the team choose together - bear, salmon or mosquito!). From what we've witnessed, these games don't just engage kids in play, the ABSORB them in it!
Details:
When: Saturday October 19th, 10am-2pm
Location: Memorial Park, 2901 E 3rd Ave Durango
Ages: 7-12
What to bring: clothes that can get dirty, waterproof rain gear, lots of water to drink and a hearty lunch and morning snack (more details and reminders will be sent out to registered families prior to the event).

Women's Safety and Wilderness skills Workshop
This course, designed for women and women-identified individuals, is an introduction to basic skills and knowledge to feel and be safe in the woods whether you’re on a short-day hike or an unplanned overnight. We will cover our take on the "10 Essentials" to have in your pack and how to use them, how to “stay found” and what to do if you get lost, what survival priorities are, local hazards such as animals, poisonous plants, and weather, and most importantly, how to maintain a clear and upright mind in a survival situation. This class builds a knowledge and skill-base to give you greater confidence and comfort in the woods.
This workshop is being offered by two local, highly experienced nature guides, Annika Fae and Robin Brodsky.
